On Sunday 30 July we were delighted to have Bishop Christopher join us in celebrating St James Patronal Festival. After the communion service, he stayed to enjoy our annual BBQ in the church garden. Despite the forecasts of heavy rain, it was mainly dry and we were able to enjoy fantastic food and fellowship with our church families from St James’ and St Michael’s; as well as friends from Deptford Deanery. After the event, we received the following message from Bishop Christopher:
Thanks and appreciation from me to you for a very happy and blessed Patronal Festival. I am glad the weather held - mostly - for the barbecue which was superbly organised. I was very encouraged with the very positive spirit among everyone present. I am glad to have been with you for Kingsley’s first Patronal and will be holding St James in my prayers that you may go forward together in faith, hope and love, the Lord being your helper.
